In medicine, hop cones, i.e. female inflorescences - Lupuli strobili, and lupulin - Lupulinum, i.e. glandular hairs rubbed from dried female inflorescences are used. The cones are harvested when they are light green in color, in the initial flowering period. Both raw materials, both cones and lupulin, contain volatile oil, resins, flavonoids, and tannins.
In cosmetics , the extract has a bacteriostatic and rejuvenating effect due to estrogenic compounds. Common hops are rich in phytohormones that have a beneficial effect on the skin's metabolism and that is why it is more and more often used in anti-aging and anti-aging products. Phytohormones have a positive effect on the renewal of the epidermis, but also reach the deeper layers of the skin. They dilate blood vessels, increase the cells' ability to better absorb nutrients and the skin becomes better supplied with blood and nourished.
They activate the production of collagen and elastin, counteract sagging skin, strengthen its structure and accelerate regeneration processes.
The phytohormones contained in the extract stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, ensuring adequate skin hydration, thanks to which it increases its tension and elasticity, and improves its color.
Hops extract also has an antibacterial and calming effect on the skin. Perfect as an addition to hair care products, it makes them soft and fluffy.
